What do you love most about the Washington
Highlands? The beautiful vintage houses? The parks and
green space? Or its historical significance? No other
neighborhood can quite compare. Since our annual assessment barely
covers the yearly cost to maintain our parks -- let alone other needs --
the Washington Highlands Historical Preservation Corporation (WHHPC) was
formed to help us better improve and preserve this beautiful
neighborhood.
Through your generosity, we raise funds each year that allows us to
continue our preservation and educational efforts. To date, we
have fully completed the historical entryway marks and plantings at 60th
Street and installed entryway markers at Two Tree Lane. These
designs follow the original plans of Hegemann & Peets, the architects of
the Washington Highlands. Plans continue for historical street
lighting along with our educational work. In 2006, we plan to
begin a three phase program to install markers, landscaping and other
stonework at the entryway at Washington Circle and Milwaukee Avenue.
We need your help to continue our efforts. A
contribution to the WHHPC is an investment in your neighborhood and in
the value of your home. No contribution is too small and all are
fully tax deductible. Mail your contribution (payable to WHHPC) to
WHHPC, P.OP. Box 26723, Wauwatosa, WI 53226.
