The Washington Highlands is a premier example of Garden City Planning. Designed in 1916 by internationally-famous city planners Werner Hegemann and Elbert Peets, this model residential neighborhood is laid out with curving streets that preserve the natural topographic features of the 133-acre site. Prior to development, the Highlands were part of a hops and Percheron horse farm owned by famous Milwaukee brewer, Captain Frederick Pabst
